Works of Mercy Service Project for Confirmation candidates
Traditionally Confirmation Candidates have been required to perform a designated number of service hours during their preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. In an effort to help candidates to understand the importance of service as a natural part of living our Catholic faith; we will shift from tracking hours to identifying the gifts and talents each Candidate possesses and encourage them to discover where God may be calling them to serve.
In light of this, please read the instructions carefully and then submit your answer the questions below.
Read and understand the Spiritual & Corporal Works of Mercy and Catholic Social Teaching
Use them as a guide to recognize in your everyday life ways in which to implement them
Pray that God will open your eyes to the opportunities that present themselves (maybe that friend who is being bullied in school is an opportunity for you to “comfort the sorrowful”)
Make volunteering for at least one established service organization or parish ministry part of your experience this year (Ushering, Lectoring, Altar Serving, Faith Formation, Edge, or Anchor Teen Assistant, Food Pantry help, etc. (see “service opportunities” in the Bulletin or Parish Website or sent through Flocknote)
Submit your completed Works of Mercy form by February 26, 2020.
