Individual ministry/service work
Candidates in YEAR TWO will select individual projects utilizing their gifts and talents to serve others completing 4 of 7 Corporal/Spiritual works of Mercy. If you are involved in a ministry such as Teen Assisting at Anchor, Edge, or Faith Formation, are an Altar Server, Cantor, or Lector, this can also be considered your Works of Mercy project. (2 hour minimum for all works combined.) . These do not have to be completed through the Parish.
If a group service project was not completed in Year 1, you will also complete a group service project. There is a 4 hour service requirement. You may use 2 projects to complete your 4 hour requirement.
choose a patron saint
Confirmation Saint Name
As a candidate for the celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation you have two options concerning the choice of Confirmation name.
Option 1: Choose your present, baptismal name (your first name or middle name only if it is a Saint name). This shows the sacrament’s connection with the other sacraments of initiation into the Catholic Church: Baptism and First Eucharist. Choosing your Baptismal name demonstrates that you feel there has been a continual growth in your faith and that you now wish to make this formal through Confirmation.
Option 2: Choose a saint’s name that symbolizes a new beginning in your faith life and a connection to that particular saint. If you feel that you have not been particularly strong in your faith and are now making a renewed commitment to your faith, the taking of a new name symbolizes this commitment. This new name would be used after your present middle name and before your family name.
ATTEND CONFIRMATION RETREAT
Candidates must attend the Confirmation Retreat in order to satisfy requirements for the program and the Archdiocese. If there is a major schedule conflict or illness, arrangements will be made for a make-up retreat with another parish.
