Spring 2014 Life Nights

Vocations Semester Logo.046.png

COMEDY SPORTZ (Spring Semester Kick-off) – January 12th

THE CALL (What is Vocation) – January 19th

We are bombarded since we are little with the question: “What do you want to be when you grow up?” We associate the career we will have, or the school we will attend after high school in the same category as a “vocation.”  The reality of Vocation is not so much about “What do you want to be when you grow up” as it is “What path along the journey to Heaven does God have in store for you?”

AWAKEN (Vocation to Holiness) – January 26th

Everything has a beginning. Everything has an end. Everything has a purpose. What is yours?

IN THEIR FOOTSTEPS (The Saints) – February 9th

We can learn so much from those that have gone before us. The Church witnesses to 2,000 years of men and women who loved Jesus and lived their vocation to the full. When we look into their lives we can see how we are called to live.

DATE NIGHT (Issue Night on Dating) – February 16th

Have you ever found yourself believing the "right person" myth? We oftentimes feel that to find identity and purpose we need to have a significant other. The truth is that, while dating can be great, we must be confident first in our own identity – which should be rooted in Christ – not others. Before you ever enter into a relationship you are going to want to remember these three tips.

TILL DEATH DO US PART (Vocation: Marriage) – February 23rd

Marriage reveals divine truths about the reality of God. God is a relationship, God creates, and God loves in a sacrificial way. The Sacrament of Matrimony is intended to reveal these qualities of God and provide a daily witness of the love Christ has for His Church.

Speakers: Mike and Shannon Gormley

REND YOUR HEARTS (Lent & Mission) – March 2nd

"In the poor and outcast we see Christ's face; by loving and helping the poor, we love and serve Christ." - Pope Francis, Lenten Message 2014

WOULD YOU RATHER (Discernment) – March 16th

Discernment helps us to “figure out” how to love God, love others, and spread the Gospel. Learning how to properly discern things is needed for more than our vocation – it is something we can use for all decisions.

Speaker. Fr. Mike Schmitz

PERSONA CHRISTI (Vocation: Priesthood) – March 23rd

"The world looks to the priest, because it looks to Jesus! No one can see Christ; but everyone sees the priest, and through him they wish to catch a glimpse of the Lord! Immense is the grandeur of the Lord! Immense is the grandeur and dignity of the priest!" – Bl. John Paul II

Speaker: Fr. Dat Hoang, Vocations Director, Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston

NUNS ARE FUN (Vocation: Consecrated Life) – April 6th

Sister Anna Laura joins us to share her witness of the JOY of the Vocation to the Consecrated Life.

NIGHT OF PRAYER – April 13th

A powerful night of Stations of the Cross and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament

COME & GO (Discipleship) – April 27th

The grace received at Baptism and Confirmation “gives us a special strength of the Holy Spirit to spread and defend the faith by word and action as true witnesses of Christ, to confess the name of Christ boldly, and never to be ashamed of the Cross (CCC 1303).” In our call to holiness, God asks us to be his disciples which entails following Him AND making more disciples.

HELLO, SUMMER (End of Year Party) – May 25th

Join us for the end of the year/beginning of summer party from 7:30-9:30pm at the Rob Fleming Aquatic Center
