CHOOSE YOUR
CONFIRMATION SAINT NAME

“Let us become saints so that after having been together on earth, we may be together in Heaven.” – St. Pio of Pietrelcina (Padre Pio)

As a YEAR 2 candidate for the Sacrament of Confirmation you have two options concerning the choice of Confirmation name.

OPTION 1:

Choose your present, baptismal name (your first name or middle name if it is a Saint name). This shows the sacrament’s connection with the other sacraments of initiation into the Catholic Church: Baptism and First Eucharist. Choosing your Baptismal name demonstrates that you feel there has been continual growth in your faith and that you now wish to make this formal through Confirmation.

OPTION 2:

Choose a saint’s name that symbolizes a new beginning in your faith life and a connection to that particular saint. If you feel that you have not been particularly strong in your faith and are now making a renewed commitment to your faith, the taking of a new name symbolizes this commitment. This new name would be used on the day of your Confirmation as you are being anointed with Chrism Oil

Once you have selected your Saint, submit the Saint Name form at the link below.

SAINT NAME FORM MUST BE SUBMITTED BY DECEMBER 6, 2023

When writing about the Saint you have chosen, please write from a personal perspective.

  • Why do I feel drawn to this particular Saint?

  • What attributes or virtues does this Saint have that I would like to emulate in my life

  • Where did this Saint live?

  • Are they a patron Saint of anything that is meaningful to me?
