WORKS OF MERCY PROJECT
Confirmation Year 2
"For I have given you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you. Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them." - JOHN 13
Confirmation Year 2 Candidates are required to perform acts of service during their final year of preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Service to others is a natural part of living our Catholic faith. We all possess God-given gifts and talents. Confirmation Candidates are encouraged to discover where God may be calling them to serve.
Please carefully read the instructions stated below:
-
Read and understand the Spiritual & Corporal Works of Mercy and Catholic Social Teaching. Works of Mercy project information can be found here.
-
Use the Works of Mercy as a guide to recognize opportunities in their everyday life to help others. What are the Works of Mercy?
-
Pray that God will open your eyes to the opportunities that present themselves. (Maybe that friend who is being bullied in school is an opportunity for you to “comfort the sorrowful”.)
-
Make volunteering for at least one established service organization or parish ministry part of your experience this year (Serve as an Usher, Lector, Altar Server; Join the Music Ministry, Assist in Faith Formation, Vacation Bible School, as a Teen Assistant, in the Food Pantry, or in Junior Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the Knights of Columbus Squires, etc.) See "service opportunities" on the Parish website, in the Bulletin, and sent out by Email/Flocknote.
